I was in the Klamath National Forest in Northern California last Thursday and Friday to assist Diana Hartel with an oral history project which focuses on the lives of riverkeepers on 4 major American river systems. We stayed with Petey Brucker and his wife, Geba who live on the Godfrey Ranch. During an early morning walk with Petey, I spotted "Frosted Stump."

One of my favorite locations near Ashland is a field of oak trees interspersed with rocks and boulders in The Cascade foothills. I arrived Wednesday morning before sunrise and then realized I left my tripod at home. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, I broke out my flash.

Shore Acres, along Oregon's Cape Arago, is largely known for its formal gardens. Many visitors are not aware of its unusual rock formations and the colossal waves that rise from the ocean, often inundating whatever is near.
