The exquisite beauty of flowers in their prime is unmistakable. Less obvious is the character of aging and the countless, graceful ways it unfolds.

Lone Tree II
I was captivated by the way this lone tree and landscape merged with a newly paved road near Montague, California.

Pelican Ballet
White Pelicans are considered relatively rare in Southern Oregon, so I was particularly excited to see a pod by the Klamath River Bridge in Keno, Oregon. On first glance they were in a well ordered semi-circle. Coming in closer, I watched as they repeatedly dipped their beaks into the water in unison while maintaining their semi-circle. I believe they were foraging for food. My only regret was not having a video camera with me. "Pelican Ballet" was taken as they were moving toward the opposite bank of the river where they continued to dip in unison.

Succulents II
A visit to the Siskiyou Rare Plant Nursery in Talent, OR is a real treat. They have a delightful variety of unusual plants including these succulents. They're currently open on Thursday to Sunday from 10-4.
